Kayseri is not only an important place for Islamic World but it is also important for Christians. In Kayseri,
located in the Cappadocia region, rocks formed by tuffs have been used since the Roman period. The rocks,
which were used by the Romans as graves, were used as churches by Byzantines. These magnificent struc-
tures remained from the people who built cities by carving rocks. This region is open to public as an open
air museum. Every year thousands of tourists come to Soğanlı and visit places of worship such as Yılanlı
Church, Ak Church, Hidden Church, Virgin Mary Church which are important for the Christianity. The ruins,
which have a wide history extending from the 3 century AD to the 7 century AD, are the continuation of

the ruins of chimney houses and remains in Ürgüp, Göreme Valley. Of course, the center of the structures
that come out of the gold brushes of the nature; chimney houses, and shelters is Cappadocia region...
