Civilization

Mimar Sinan’s works are scattered throughout the
world. His name lives in many parks and museums.
Mimar Sinan Park, which is located in the heart
of Kayseri, is one of them. The lush green area,
where various sports activities are held, keeps a
very valuable building in it.
The Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Gıyaseddin Keyhüs-
rev I built a medical center on the will of his sister
Gevher Nesibe Hatun. In the healing center, which
was completed between the years 1205-1206, lots
of researches were done in the field of medicine
and patients were treated in the healing rooms.
The building, which is known as the first medical
faculty of the world, continues to serve under the
name of Seljuks Civilization Museum in the park
which bears the name of a genius: Mimar Sinan.
One of the foundations of the Gevher Nesibe Madra-
th
sah, the Sultan Hammam, from the 13 century, is
one of the important extensions of the madrasah
that answers all the needs of the time. The historical
bath, which has separate sections for men and
women, has been restorated in an appropriate way
and serves as a restaurant.
