SOĞANLI KARABAŞ KILISESI
Yapının kitabesinde Konstantin Dukas döneminde Michael Ske-
pides, Protos–patharius, Rahibe Katherine, keşiş Myphon tarafından
dekore edildiği ve bu yazıyı okuyanların onlara dua etmelerinin istendiği
belirtilmektedir. Kitabeye dayanarak IX.–XI. yüzyılda yapıldığı tahmin
edilmektedir. Kilise birbirine bağlı dört bölümden oluşur. Kuzeydeki iki
yapı, iki nefli bir kilisedir. Kiliselerin duvar ve tavanlarında “Meryem’e
Müjde, İsa’nın Doğumu, İsa’nın Tapınağa Sunumu, Metamorfozsiz,
İsa’nın Çarmıha Gerilişi, İsa’nın Göğe Yükselişi” gibi konuların yanı
sıra Meryem, Aziz, Azize tasvirlerini içeren resimlerle süslenmiştir.

SOĞANLI TAHTALI KILISE
Bu kilise tek nefli, tek apsisli olup, üzeri beşik tonozla örtülmüştür.
Vadideki önemli kiliselerden biri olan Hagia Barbara Kilisesi’nin tonoz-
ları yapıyı ortadan ikiye bölmüştür. Kilisenin içerisindeki fresklerde
çok sayıda Aziz tasvirleri görülmektedir. Burada Hz. İsa’nın doğaca-
ğının müjdelenmesi, ziyafet, Hz. Meryem’in bakireliğini kanıtlaması,
Hz. Meryem’in Yusuf ile Betlehem’e gidişi ve doğum sahneleri, Yedi
Uyurlar, Deisis gibi İncil’den alınma sahneler ve bir çok Aziz’in tasviri
resmedilmiştir.
Kilisenin V–VI. yüzyılda yapıldığı ama freskoların IX–XI. yüzyılda
yenilenmiş veya eklenmiş olduğu düşünülmektedir.

SOĞANLI KARABAŞ CHURCH
It is stated in the inscription that during the reign of Constantine
Dukas the building was decorated by Michael Skepides, Protos–patharius,
Sister Katherine, and the monk Myphon and that those who read this
script should pray for them. It is estimated to have been built in the IX.
XI. Century based on the inscription. The church consists of four inter-
connected parts. The two buildings in the north are two nave churches.
On the walls and ceilings of the churches are decorated with pictures of
Mary, Saints, as well as the subjects like “Greetings to Mary, Birth of Jesus,
Presentation of Jesus to the Temple, Metamorphosis, Christ's Crucifixion,
Jesus Rise to the Chest”.

SOĞANLI TAHTALI CHURCH

This church is a single nave, single apse and covered with a barrel
vault. One of the important churches in the valley, Hagia Barbara Church
divides the vaults into two. Many frescoes of Saint are seen in the church.
Here the promise of the birth of Jesus, feast, prove Mary's virginity, the
scenes of Mary's departure to Joseph and Betlehem and the scenes of
the birth, the seven sleeps, the deisis and the staging of the Bible and the
portrayal of many saints are depicted. The church was built in the V–VI.
Century, but the frescoes are thought to have been renovated or added
in the IX–XI. century.
