BAŞKÖY MERYEM ANA MANASTIRI
Yeşilhisar ilçesi Başköy’de bulunmaktadır. Define arayıcılarının
tahribi sebebiyle, büyük oranda harap olmuştur. Kitabesi olmayıp,
yapının genelinde kaba yonu moloz ve düzgün kesme taş kullanılmıştır.
V.–VI. yüzyıllarda yapıldığı bazı kaynaklarda geçmektedir.
Başköy’ün batısındaki eğimli yamaç üzerine inşa edilmiş olan
yapının çevresinde yerleşim yeri ve başka binaların olmaması, bura-
sının bir manastır olabileceğini düşündürmektedir. Manastır, batıdan
doğuya doğru eğimlenen bir arazi üzerine inşa edilmiştir. Manastır giriş
kapısında akantüs kabartmalı taş bezeme, duvarların iç yüzeylerinde
ise Dört İncil ve Hz. İsa, Hz. Meryem’le ilgili freskolar görülmüştür.

başlıklı yazısında Başköy’le ilgili şunları söyler:

BAŞKÖY VIRGIN MARY MONASTERY
It is located in Başköy in Yeşilhisar district. Due to the destruction
of the treasure seekers, it has been ruined in great detail. There is no
inscription and roughly rubbed rubble and regularly cut stone are used
throughout the structure. It has passed through some sources that have
been made in V–VI. Centuries.
The lack of settlements and other buildings around the structure
built on the slope west of Başköy suggests that this may be a monastery.
The monastery was built on a land tilted from west to east. The entrance
gate of the monastery is decorated with acanthus relief, and on the inside
surfaces of the walls are the Four Bibles and Hz. Jesus, the Prophet. Fres-
coes related to Mary were seen.
